Hardness testers for a stated scale and a real part.
Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers and Leeb answer different questions. A portable impact device is not a substitute for a bench test when the procedure names the scale, the load and the location.
What to include
Scale, material, and where the indent has to go.
Tell us the scale you must report, the material, the thickness of the section, and whether the test is in the workshop or on site. A thin case, a weld cap, a small radius or a requirement to avoid a visible indent will change the method. If you only have a photograph of a surface, say whether you need a hardness number or a visual opinion. We source instruments. We do not offer ourselves as an inspection contractor.
If you are replacing a tester, send the model and the scale you use today. Converting between scales after the fact is a poor substitute for measuring in the scale the specification asks for.
