Coating thickness
Coating thickness, measured on the substrate you actually have.
Magnetic and eddy-current gauges answer dry-film and plating thickness. They do not measure remaining wall. The substrate, the coating and the surface finish decide whether a reading is meaningful.
What to include
Substrate first, then the coating.
Tell us whether the substrate is ferrous, non-ferrous, or both, and what the coating is: paint, powder, plating, anodising or something else. A rough or curved surface, a very thin plating, or a coating on a small feature will rule out gauges that look suitable on a flat panel.
Say the thickness range you expect and whether you need a spot check or a recorded survey. If you also need the steel thickness under the paint, that is a separate ultrasonic question on thickness gauges, and the two should not be collapsed into one instrument.
We will not claim a brand is on the shelf. Send the application, or the model you already use, and we will review what can be supplied.
